Adult mosquito treatment to suppress West Nile virus activity in portions of Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and San Jose (94089, 95054, and 95002) on 8/4/22
Mosquitoes infected with West Nile virus (WNV) have been detected in a small portion of Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and San Jose. When these infected mosquitoes bite humans, they can transmit the virus which can cause serious illness.
To reduce the threat of a WNV human case, the County of Santa Clara Vector Control District will be reducing the mosquito population with a localized mosquito control treatment in part of the 94089, 95054, and 95002 ZIP codes. The treatment will use truck-mounted equipment and is scheduled to begin Thursday, August 4 around 10PM and last approximately 4 hours.
