Vector Control Community Resource Specialist

Under general direction, to plan, develop and implement public awareness programs on the services provided by the Vector Control District; and to develop effective methods of conveying information concerning the prevention of vector-borne diseases through public education.
Typical Tasks
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with schools, libraries, and governmental agencies to coordinate Vector Control Education Programs.
- Plans and conducts orientation programs, workshops and education programs for District staff, schools, community groups and other agencies regarding vector control education and information.
- Researches, prepares, edits and updates materials such as brochures, flyers, and other educational materials to disseminate vector control information and services.

Under general direction, plan, organize, coordinate and perform professional biological or entomological evaluation and identification in the assigned program areas of surveillance, census and control of vertebrate and invertebrate vectors and vector-borne diseases, and to serve as a technical advisor to staff and the general public.
Typical Tasks
- Plans and conducts studies and surveys of vector populations.
- Establishes a system of vector population measurements, by maintaining collections, identifying findings, conducting disease surveillances and recordings and evaluating results.
- Performs biological and chemical lab analysis; prepares reports including maps and graphs and analysis of program evaluation and development.
